Delete your account and data

You can delete your Happi Happi account and the associated data at any time yourself. There are two ways to do this.

In the app (recommended)

  1. Open the Happi Happi app and sign in.
  2. Go to Profile › Account.
  3. Tap "Delete account".
  4. To confirm, enter your password and type DELETE into the confirmation field.
  5. Confirm with "Delete account".

The deletion is immediate and irreversible. Afterwards you receive a confirmation by email at your stored address.

Without access to the app

If you can no longer sign in, write to us from the email address stored in your account at [email protected] and ask us to delete your account. We confirm the deletion by email.

Which data is deleted?

With the deletion, your personal data is permanently removed, in particular:

  • account and profile data (email address, name/username, password)
  • health-related details (dietary preference, allergens)
  • private content (calendar and meal-plan entries, private shopping lists)
  • your profile picture
  • memberships, friendships, invitations and notifications

All active sign-in sessions are invalidated at the same time on all devices.

Which data is anonymised or transferred?

Content you have created in shared areas is not deleted but anonymised - your name is replaced by a placeholder ("Deleted user"). This keeps the other users' data intact. This applies to:

  • recipes you created and recipe and event photos you uploaded
  • event expenses you recorded and items you added to shopping lists

Ownership of shared events, shopping lists, groups and cookbooks passes to another member (if there is none, to the named placeholder).

Retention

The deletion happens immediately in a database transaction. Any residual copies in our encrypted backups are overwritten within 30 days as part of the rolling retention.

For legal reasons we retain invoice and payment records beyond the account deletion, to the extent that statutory retention obligations require it (tax retention periods, generally 10 years, Section 147 AO).
